FIRST MENSTRUATION AFTER C-SECTION
The first period after c-section depends on body composition, frequency of breastfeeding and hormonal status. It’s a myth that menstruation starts early if you have a normal vaginal delivery.
Either it’s a c-section or it’s a normal vaginal birth , the first menstruation depends on different elements.
After C-Section
The progesterone and estrogen hormone levels are decreases after child birth. This situation will continues as long as the baby is breast feeded.
This results in delay of menstruation. If baby is not breast feeded, the first menstruation will be started in 5 to 6 weeks after c section.
FACTORS AFFECTING
Some health conditions affects the menstruation. More importantly pre-pregnancy health
conditions will affect the menstruation after c-section.
-Pre-pregnancy health conditions.
-Variations in hormones.
-Pre-pregnancy menstruation hormonal fluctuations.
AS LONG AS BREAST FEEDING
In the mother as long as the child is nursing the reason for missing period is the variations in the
hormones during feeding days. The production of prolactin hormone which support milk
production will decrease the production of reproductive hormones.
Due to this eggs are not
released. As a result, mothers do not menstruates as long as the baby is breastfed.

MENSTRUATION LIKE THIS
There is a difference between pre-pregnancy menstruation and post-pregnancy menstruation.
After child birth, the body adjust back to the menstruation. So, there is difference between
menstruation before and after childbirth.
Heavy Bleeding: Heavy bleeding may occur during the first period after c-section. The reason
for this is that the uterine walls are cutting during Surgery.
Dark Red: After caesarean section or normal vaginal delivery new tissues are made back in uterus. So
the bleeding is in dark red.
Longer Days: At the beginning of the menstruation there is a profuse discharge for 4 days
followed by aggregation decreases.
Irregularities: Weight Loss/gain, Stress, Hormone Irregularities may arise in menstruation.
Blood Clots: Dark colored blood clots may be seen in the discharge. This condition is common
especially in the first month. Heavy bleeding is also seen in people with thyroid or adenomyosis
problems. Light bleeding is seen in people with endometriosis.
MENSTRUAL PAINS GO AWAY
Cramps after c-section or normal delivery will be decreased. This is due to the changes
that takes place in the body with pregnancy.
HAZARD INDICATIONS
Do not neglect some instructions after the start of menses, immediately consult the doctor.
– If there is need to change pad in one to two hours.
-Heavy Bleeding with pain.
-Sudden fever, headache.
-Large blood clots.
– Pain during urination
-Foul-smelling in monthly discharge.
