Vada pav is one of the most eaten streen food by the people of Maharashtra.It is super tasty and delicious. Vada pav has a batata vada which is made up of potato which is sandwiched between pav. Different chutney swere used to enhance its taste.
In Mumbai , people eat vada pav at any time of th eday like morning, evening and also night.Lets see how can we prepare thi ssimple and tasty dish.
Ingredients :
pav’s – 2
Potato – 2 large
oil – Required amount for deep frying
mustard seeds – 1/2 spoon
curry leaves – 8-10
Asafoetida- pinch
Garlic – 6-7 cloves
Green chillies – 1 0r 2
Coriander leaves – 2 table spoons
Gram flour- 1 cup
Turmeric powder- a pinch
Baking soda- optional
Salt- to taste
Procedure:
- Boil 2 large potatoes and peel them and mash them in a bowl.
- Take a small kadai adn heat 2-3 tsp oil. After oil is heated, add mustard seed and curry leaves along with asafoetida.
- Saute for few seconds and add garlic , green chilli pastwhich is crushed.
- Add a pinch of turmeric and saute for some time.
- Add little salt and coriander leaves.
- Pour this tempering is the mashed potatoes
- Mix everything well and make medium sized balls from the above mixture.
- Take a big bowl and make a smooth batter of 1 cup gram flour, pinch of turmeric, pinch of asafoetida, pinch of baking soda, little salt and mix it by adding little bit of water.
- Dip the potato balls in this batter and ensure that it is coated evenly.
- Heat the oil for deep frying and gently drop these batter coated balls in the oil.
- Deep fry the batata vada’s and keep aside.
- Cut the pav without breaking it and apply green chutney and garlic chutney.If you like to have it sweetly you can add sweet chutney too.
- Place the hot batata vada between the chutney coated pav and have it immediately.
It will be good when served with onion, lemon, tomato sauce or green chutney.
