Having braces, follow these to keep mouth hygienic

Oral hygiene is crucial not only for people wearing braces but also for everyone. It is very difficult to maintain oral hygiene with this orthodontic appliance.
Food and bad bugs can easily get stuck between brackets and wiring causing gum disease, cavities and most irritating bad breath.
By following few small tips you can get rid of this problem.

  • Limit frequency of solid food intake. Limit foods with sugar Suring meals to prevent cavities and gum diseases.
  • Avoid sticky and hard foods like candies, gums, popcorn, nuts which can not only cause cavities by sticking but also break the orthodontic appliance resulting in a longer duration of treatment.
  • One with braces must also limit the intake of sugars and soda. If you cannot resist, then it is vital to brush and floss after completion of intake.
  • Maintain healthy, balanced and nutritious diet which helps your teeth and gums healthy.
  • Brush thoroughly twice a day with soft bristled toothbrush.
    -Clean between teeth daily to remove plaque from areas your tooth brush can’t reach.
    -Avoid smoking or use of tobacco.
  • Use mouth wash on a regular basis.
